"self-care":
I'm all about self-care,
It's all the rage right now,
I spend my days at the spa,
Pampering myself, wow wow wow.
I take long baths with Epsom salt,
I light candles and play some jazz,
I treat myself to a massage,
And buy all the latest fads.
But as I lay there, feeling zen,
I can't help but feel a little bit guilty,
Because while I'm indulging in self-care,
There are people out there, really hurting, really.
So I try to balance it all out,
By donating to charities,
But sometimes it just doesn't feel enough,
In this world of constant crazies.
Self-care is important, no doubt,
But let's not forget about others,
We can all use a little more love,
In this crazy world of ours.
Here's a satirical poem about the trend of constantly checking social media:
I wake up in the morning
Feeling so alone
I reach for my phone
And check my Instagram home
I see my friends all having fun
Out living life and having some
I scroll and scroll and scroll some more
But somehow I still feel poor
I switch to Facebook to see what's new
But all I find is fake news
I check my LinkedIn, just in case
But no job offers, just more empty space
I can't escape the constant need
To check my feeds and feeds and feeds
It's like a drug that I can't resist
I'm addicted, I must confess
But when I finally put my phone down
I feel lost, I'm a clown
I'm missing out on life, it seems
But hey, at least my social media gleams!
