Hurtin’ myself seems easy to do

It’s easier than living without you

It’s easy to let the pain consume

And forget the light that awaits me soon

It’s easy to let the hurt take hold

And push away the stories yet untold

It’s easy to stay in the dark

And never take that first step to start

It’s easy to stay in the cocoon

And let the bad feelings consume

It’s easy to give up on life

And suffer in the comfort of strife

But living is hard and takes courage

It’s hard to reach the light amidst the darkest rage

It’s hard to take the first step

And believe in yourself despite the depths

It’s hard to keep going when you’re in despair

And try to see the beauty amidst the despair

It’s hard to keep your head up high

And keep pushing even when you want to die

So why is it that hurting yourself is easy

And living is hard you see

It’s because life takes courage

And that’s something not everyone can find in themselves easily.
